Chicon 7 will conduct the vote to choose the location for the Worldcon in 2014. During 2012, this page will link to a site selection ballot, as well as any information provided by groups bidding to host the Worldcon that year.

Under current rules, voting may only be conducted by mail or in person at the convention. An amendment to the rules was approved at the business meeting of Aussiecon 4 to permit online voting. This amendment must be ratified at Renovation in 2011 before it can take effect.

To appear on the ballot, bids must be submitted 180 days before the opening of the convention, so on or before March 2, 2012. Information required for filing is specified in the WSFS constitution.

Exclusion Zone

To be eligible to host the Worldcon in 2014, a site must be more than 500 miles from the administering convention. This will exclude the following locations:
  • States: Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Tennessee, Iowa, Wisconsin, and most of Missouri and Minnesota.
  • Cities: Toronto, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Omaha, and Minneapolis.
