Message from Chicon 8We have not yet made decisions on public health related policies (including, but not limited to, COVID vaccination, masking, and social distancing) because the situation is still evolving. We anticipate starting our policy discussion in the spring of 2022 so that we can be better situated to have our policy be compliant with the current science and legal requirements that may be in effect.

November 1, 2021: A Message from the Chair Great googly moogly, it’s November already!?!? We’ve been super busy over here at Chicon 8 HQ and thought we’d share a few quick updates! Want to see us in person? We will be at Windycon (Nov 12-14 in Lombard, IL) in November, and we will be doing a panel about C8 on Sunday, November 14 at 10am Central time. Our plan is to announce our Featured Guests during this panel, and we are planning to live stream it via Instagram or Facebook (exact details TBD – watch this space and social media!). Speaking of our Featured Guests, we are SO EXCITED Y’ALL!!! If you miss the live stream, we’ll be putting info about them on our website and in Progress Report 2 on November 15. We are also making plans for DisCon III, the 2021 Worldcon in Washington, D.C. There will definitely be a Fan Table, and we’ve got a few other things in the works that we’ll announce later in November. If you’re going to DisCon, please stop by and say hello! We had a fantastic weekend in Chicago at the Hyatt for our Division Head weekend mid-October. Many of us were there in person, with the rest joining us virtually. We got loads done, and while we were working we also ate a lot of good food and drank a lot of good drinks and had a few dance breaks! We also had a social event at the Hyatt on that Saturday evening and really appreciated getting to meet some staff and attendees in person! Lots of networking occurred, drinks and snacks were consumed, and did we mention how great it was to see people in person? It sure was.
