Sy Liebergot

Sy Liebergot was the NASA Apollo EECOM Flight Controller in Mission Control for all Apollo manned missions and all Skylab program missions. On the international scene, Sy was the Lead EECOM for the American-Russian Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) mission. Sy's published autobiography, Apollo EECOM: Journey of A Lifetime takes us through his life and his experiences in Mission Control. Sy was at the focal point of the Apollo 13 crisis in Mission Control when the spacecraft's oxygen tank exploded. He was an advisor for the film Apollo 13, in which he was portrayed by director Ron Howard's brother Clint.

As part of the Apollo 13 Operations Team, Sy was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He also received the NASA Commendation Award for his leadership role in the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project international space mission. He has also been honored as Distinguished Alumnus of his alma mater's School of Engineering and Technology.
