Q: How do I join?

A: See the membership page for information on membership rates and payment.

Q: Do you sell passes to just one thing (like the Dealers' Room or the Masquerade)?

A: No. Single-day admissions sold at the door provide entry to all events and exhibits on that day, but you cannot buy a "Dealers' Room admission only" or a "Masquerade admission ticket" or any other limited-admission pass.

Q: How do I find out whether I'm already a member?

A: All members are listed in our Progress Reports, and in our online membership list (unless they checked the "Do Not List" option on the membership form). If you aren't sure of your status, look yourself up on those lists or send an email to

and we can check our database for you.

Q: How do I find out whether I voted in site selection?

A: If you voted in site selection at Aussiecon 4, last year's Worldcon, you will be listed as at least a Supporting member in Chicon 7. So, you should be able to find yourself in the members list, unless you also filled in a conversion form and stated that you didn't want to be listed publicly (see previous question).

Q: If I can't attend the convention after all, can I get a refund?

A: Sorry, we are unable to give refunds. You may however transfer your membership. You can ask about this on our Facebook page to contact others who might be looking for transferred memberships. For more details, see our Transfers and Changes of Address page.

Q: What does my membership include?

A: Let's see... You get five days of great programming, a fantastic Art Show, an enormous Dealers' Room, and the biggest Masquerade of any SF con. You can nominate and vote on the Hugo awards and attend the Hugo Awards ceremony, plus you can nominate for next year's Hugo awards as well. You can also vote for the site for the 2014 Worldcon. Besides these tangible benefits, you also get the opportunity to mix with friends both new and old, and to talk with authors, editors, artists, filkers, and costumers. You can admire hall costumes you've never seen before and relax in the con suite to recover from all the excitement. Because Chicon 7 will be held in downtown Chicago, if you want a change of scene or a great restaurant, you're right there.
