Getting Around in Reno

Reno is well served by the usual range of options for Car Rentals and Taxi and Limousine services. For those who are bringing their own cars, the traffic is modest and the city compact, and we have free parking at all three of our hotels.

Public Transportation

Reno has a good public transit system based mainly on buses. This is operated by the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County. Expect to see "RTC" included in the names of their services.

Among the main services fans may be interested in are the following:

  • RTC Ride is the main public transport service. It includes 75 buses on 30 routes across Reno, Sparks and other parts of Washoe County. The service is currently being enhanced by the development of new transit centres for downtown Reno (4th Street Station) and Victorian Square in Sparks (Centennial Plaza).

  • RTC Sierra Spirit is a free shuttle service which runs through downtown Reno every 10 minutes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The route includes stops convenient for the Fleischmann Planetarium, Nevada Museum of Art, National Automobile Museum and Truckee River and river walk. Check out the route map.

  • RTC Intercity is a weekday commuter service to Carson City ($4 for a one-way ticket) - convenient for anyone planning a tourist day out at the state capital.
