Introduction
All Worldcon bids are required to file a formal submission in support of their application to host the Worldcon.
The requirements for this filing are laid out in Article 4
of the WSFS Constitution.
Bids must submit their filing no less than 6 months before the Worldcon where the vote will take place. In the case of Reno, the
filing deadline was February 7, 2009 and the administering Worldcon is
Anticipation,
which will be held in Montréal in August 2009. A complete copy of our submission can be found on this
page as well as on the site selection pages of the
Anticipation website.
Voting in Site Selection
Voting for site selection is currently open and will remain open until 6 pm EDT on Saturday 8 August 2009 - however
please note that mail-in ballots must be received by Anticipation by 15 July, after which time you need to vote at the
convention in person. You must be at least a supporting member of Anticipation to vote in the ballot.
The mail in ballot form can be found here on the
Anticipation website.
Why You Should Vote
Although Reno is the only bid to have filed for 2011, it's still important that people vote for us in Montreal.
- Casting your vote supports the democratic Worldcon selection process.
- A good turn out is important to show positive support from fandom for Reno hosting the Worldcon.
- Voting also guarantees you a Supporting Membership in the 2011 Worldcon.
- This in turn entitles you to convert to full attending membership of the 2011 Worldcon for no more than twice the
voting fee - i.e. $90 - for at least 90 days after the selection process is completed. This will generally be the
cheapest way to join the Worldcon.
