Getting to Reno

This page contains information on ways of getting to and from Reno. We have provided a separate page with details of local transport options while you're in town.

By Air

Reno has over 160 daily flights to and from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO). Information on the airport is available from www.visitrenotahoe.com or from the airport's own site.

A route map is provided below. Airlines servicing Reno-Tahoe include: Alaska Airlines, American, Continental, Delta (including Northwest), Horizon, Southwest and United.

The terminal is very easy to use - the layout is shown on this terminal map. Even more usefully for incoming fans, the airport is very centrally located, just a couple of miles from the convention center and our chosen hotels. FREE airport shuttles are available to the Peppermill and the Atlantis, with a travel time of under 10 minutes.

By Rail

Another great way to get to Reno-Tahoe is by rail. The main Amtrak station is in downtown Reno, approximately 3 miles (5 km) north of the convention center. (Map). It's a short taxi ride or a $2 bus ride down Virginia Street from the station to the convention center. The Amtrak web information for Reno can be found here.

The highlight Amtrak route servicing Reno (and also nearby Sparks) is the California Zephyr. The Zephyr runs daily between Chicago and San Francisco, coursing through the plains of Nebraska to Denver, across the Rockies to Salt Lake City, and then through Reno and Sacramento into Emeryville/San Francisco. Experienced travelers say it is one of the most beautiful train trips in all of North America. In addition to the daily east- and west-bound California Zephyr trains, Amtrak dedicated motor coaches serve the Reno station from Sacramento, with connections to Amtrak's Capitol Corridor, San Joaquin, and Coast Starlight trains from the Bay Area, Southern California, and the Pacific Northwest. If you have the time (and live near the route) why not add this to your vacation plan?

By Road

Reno is within easy driving distance from the Bay Area and manageable driving distance from most of California and up into Oregon. Some key driving distances are listed below. One thing to bear in mind, if you're thinking about driving, is that Reno is an easy place to drive in. With around 350,000 citizens, traffic is light, and there is little in the way of a rush hour - and of course we have free parking at both our hotels.
