Sponsor a Bench
We want to have seating in the Exhibits Hall so people can pause while they’re perusing. To celebrate our Guest of Honour Robin Hobb’s classic novel Wizard of the Pigeons (as by Megan Lindholm) we’ve decided to use street benches. And you can sponsor one (or more).
In return for £250/$350 we’ll affix a plaque with the words of your choice – within reason! You can celebrate your business, the award you run or dedicate it to a member of the SF community who’ll be missed at Loncon 3.
Current sponsors include:
- Locus: In memory of Charles Brown, founder of Locus
- The Science Fiction Foundation: In memory of George Hay, founder of the SFF
- Neil Gaiman: In memory of John Brunner
- Edward James: In memory of Arthur C Clarke, founder of the Arthur C Clarke Award
- Confabulation (Plokta Cabal): In memory of Bob Shaw
- Vince Docherty & Colin Harris: In memory of KIM Campbell
- Diana Wynne Jones Mailing List: In memory of Diana Wynne Jones
- Karen Schaffer: In memory of Jim Young
- Randy Byers: Seattle Vanguardians remember: Anita Rowland, Anna Vargo, Bob Doyle, F M “Buz” Busby, Chris Bates, Dave Clements, Heather Wright, Joanna Russ, Michael Scanlon, Octavia E Butler, Scott Skidmore, Sharma Oliver, Sharon Baker
- Interaction: In memory of Ewan Chrystal and Dave Stewart
All the benches sponsored will be listed in the convention's souvenir book, and the benches will be donated to worthy causes after the convention. The plaques can be returned to the sponsor, or a home found for them in the Science Fiction Foundation at the University of Liverpool.
If you or your organisation would like to sponsor a bench, please write to us at exhibits@ukin2014.org
