Loncon 3 Hotels
What hotels are near the convention centre?
Below is a list of the hotels that are on or near the ExCeL site, with an approximate distance from the ExCeL building.
Note that Loncon 3 will mainly be located in and around the International Convention Centre at the east end of the building, so if your hotel is at the west end then there will be a walk of a further 500 metres or so within the building.
See the hotel map for the exact locations of the hotels.

Off Campus
There is another Travelodge and an Ibis Budget (previously Etap) at London City Airport, about one kilometre (two-thirds of a mile) from the east end of ExCeL. These are both budget hotels. There is also a Holiday Inn Express (also a budget hotel) about one-and-a-half kilometres (one mile) from the west end of the building.
Which is the main hotel?
We are not designating a main or headquarters hotel. Like the daytime programme, both the scheduled events and social activities at night will be in the convention centre, rather than in the hotels.
What will hotel rooms cost?
Hotel rates are still being negotiated. The rates given below are indicative, but we are still working on securing improvements where possible.
Headline hotel rates are higher in the UK (and the rest of Europe) than in the USA, because they include tax (VAT) and in many cases breakfast and wifi internet connectivity; but we expect the actual amount you pay for the four-star hotels to be broadly in line with recent Worldcons – around £120 to £140 per night, or US$ 190 to 220 at current exchange rates. That's an equivalent of around US$135 to 160 if we were quoting rates without tax and breakfast.
The three-star and budget hotels will be cheaper – around £100, or US$160, per night, again including tax and breakfast.
What about more luxurious options?
Canary Wharf, London's second financial centre, is two miles west of the ExCeL site, connected via the Docklands Light Railway. The hotels at Canary Wharf include five-star Marriott and Four Seasons hotels.
When will hotel bookings open?
On 2 January 2014. Bookings will be handled by our hotel agency, Infotel, who previously supported bookings for the Worldcon in Glasgow in 2005.
We are, however, offering a service through which accessible accommodation can be requested in advance of the regular booking service opening. See this page and the request form for more information.
What about staying elsewhere in the UK before or after Loncon 3?
Infotel will also arrange hotel bookings for Loncon 3 members in other locations before or after the convention. More information and suggestions about tourism and travel will be offered here.
The interactive map of the ExCeL campus in the Maps section shows the campus hotels. There’s also a specific map in that section which includes the nearby hotels off the campus, in which Loncon 3 members will also be able to book rooms via Infotel.
